Origin Story

From Punk Rock to AI — How I Got Here

I've been in digital marketing since 1997. That's before Google Ads, before social media, and before most businesses even had websites. Over the years, I built JVI Mobile Marketing into a full-service agency helping local and national businesses grow.

But I've always had this punk rock ethos: I always questioned why things had to be so complicated. I was always looking for a simpler, better way to get things done.

When AI tools started becoming accessible, I didn't just adopt them — I started teaching others how to use them. I'm not interested in the hype or the theory. I teach real business owners how to use AI — no jargon, no overwhelm. The practical, "here's how you actually do this in your business" stuff.

That teaching turned into free weekly workshops, a growing community, conference speaking invitations, and a personal brand — Jay the AI Guy.

I even built JourneyBuilder — an all-in-one AI marketing platform — because I was tired of watching small business owners drown in 10 different tools that didn't talk to each other. I'm based right here in Greensboro, North Carolina, but as an AI educator and speaker, I'm helping businesses everywhere work smarter.
